At the Birdcage Theatre, in Tombstone Arizona, I investigated it for the first time with three members of a California group along with the director of Arizona Paranormal Investigations. I set up 23 digital recorders with omni directional microphones on most of the units. I then used a shotgun microphone which is more powerful than a parabolic microphone and monitored multiple hour- long sessions with headphones attached listening for any live paranormal sounds. I captured no paranormal evidence with this microphone setup much to my disappointment.

When we all decided to move into the basement area to conduct another live EVP session we were standing by the staircase next to the high stakes poker room when I suddenly felt as though my shoulder and neck area began to turn ice cold. The ice cold feeling turned to a numbing sensation to my upper back and neck. Realizing what was happening I had my director take a temperature reading using a laser temperature gun that measures temperature upon surface contact. Once that was completed, I had my director take another temperature reading of my neck a few seconds later and the temperature of my skin had gone down almost 20 degrees!

If my body temperature would have actually gone down 20 degrees in just a few seconds I would not be alive to tell this tale. But what this incident provided was scientific proof that some type of temperature anomaly did take place and it was severe enough to take note. Personal experiences are great on an investigation, but when hard evidence is provided to back up the experience, this is why using scientific devices are essential in paranormal investigation.

Keeping calm but realizing what was happening, this freezing sensation transferred into the investigator next to me who panicked and said he was leaving the building. I grabbed a hold of his arm and told him to stay still and in a few seconds this cold spot went away.

This incident was witnessed by all 5 of us in the room. Was this sensation that the two of us experienced caused by an entity going through our body that has been reported by many investigators in the past?

This would never happen to me again on any future investigation, but I will have to admit that I was frightened beyond belief but still fascinated at the same time.

On any paranormal investigation you must be prepared for the unexpected to happen, yet you never should panic. Most paranormal activity will only last a few seconds, and it is our job as investigators to experience it so we can report on it later and try and find commonality in those bizarre experiences we simply can’t explain.
